Visio Timelines

I'm trying to use the Timeline functions for a document concerning events which took place B.C. When I try to configure the timeline with start and end dates, Visio tells me that I must use a date after Dec.31, 1899. This is not very useful to me as I work with anthropologists and almost everything we do happened before the invention of clothing, for crying out loud (well, not quite, but...). So, if anyone knows how to get around this or knows of a patch, please PLEASE let me know.
