I am using visio 2007

I have a flow chart. Parts of it I wish to highlight with some shading as a sort of block - each block I am documenting in word with each flow piece documented. Due to nature of flow chart the hape I have to draw needs to be free format. I am then wanting to format each block of the free format shape in same backfround colour but with a pattern . Is this possible, I have tried it and it doesnt display the format I give to the shape

hi,

I have a technique that I have used in Word or Power point and even Excel, especially with irregular shapes.

Insert your shape to the size as desired.

Format it with the shading and pattern you want for the background.

COPY & PASTE the shape

Format the pasted shape for the foreground and text that you want.

POSTION the foreground shape as desired in relation to the background shape.

SELECT both shapes and GROUP, so that they can be moved together into the place you want on your chart.
