Visio craching all the time

I have visio SP1 installed (trial version from MS) and it won't stop crashing. i'm trying to update some shapes that were imported from autocad. i just want to change the colour of one from white to black (so it will show up on a white background, but anytime i try to change the colour (of the layer, the shape, the fill, anything) visio has to close.

anyone had this problem?? it's really really frustrating.
