Hi - I have a report that is a table allowing drilldown. The thing is that I want to hide columns in this table until the user clicks on month - Right now all the details are hidden however it is still showing column name and has a placeholder for the information. I would like it to only show 3 columns for starters - year, units, and revenue. Then when I click on year, it shows me year, month, units, and revenue. Then finally when I click on month, it shows me all columns. How can I set the property to hide columns until month is clicked?

I tried to set visible property but error that it needs to be same hierarchy - also I started looking at the parent setup - but need some help.

Ideas?

Thanks!

As far as I know (RS2000), report items do not move based on visibility ie. if a report item is set to invisible, other items will not move to compensate.

The only way I can think of doing this is to have 3 tables which have their visibility controlled by a parameter. When you click to drill down to detail, what you would actually do would be to call the same report but with a different parameter so that a different table is visible.

Each table would then be free to have their own set of fields and would appear as though you are drilling into the same report

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
