Hi All,

we're installing VirusScan Enterprise 7 onto our network and have a problem on two machines.

The error I receive is : This product is only available for Windows NT with Service Pack 4 or higher / Windows 2000 / Windows XP / Windows 2003.

Both machines are running Windows 2000 Professional SP3 and currently have VirusScan 4.5.1 SP1 installed with the latest DAT and engine.

If I remove the existing VirusScan beforehand, I still get the same error.

I've also opened a case with McAfee and this is in progress, but I thought i'd try here and see if anyone else has had the same problem. If I get a sloution from McAfee first, I will of course let you all know :)

Thanks for your time.

Sounds like a Win2K security issue. I've installed it on Win2KPro and Server with great success using EPO. The only issue is with one machine that didn't have security set up to allow the EPO Server (Administrator/Domain Admin) to install software.

Make sure you have administrator rights to the Win2K machine. If you're only logged in with user rights, this will not work.

Hi all,

thanks for the ideas.

I too have installed it onto over 70 workstations and 12 servers with more to come. Same procedure (as the local users don't have administrator rights), I start the setup routine as a domain admin (who have administrator rights on every machine) and the program installs like a dream, exept in these two cases.

I've even tried adding the user to the administrator group then starting as that user, to no avail.

The latest from McAfee is that I should run MER Tool on those machines, and that it will have to go to Tier III support, sounds interesting - I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again.
