we are using outlook 2000, and have Symantec Corporate Edition 8.1 using Realtime Protection with up-to-date virus definitions.

a user has a strange box pop up while in Outlook, that only says "Error" at the top, and within the box is a list of many, many email addresses, not necessarily addresses from his address book, even old addresses from another user's address book.

it must be virus related, but i can't find anything about it on Symantec's website and a virus scan finds nothing...........

how do we clear this up??

thanks!

What exactly is the user doing that prompts this error or is it just randomly occuring? The only thing that comes to mind (other than virii or malware) is if the user is typing in an email address and Outlook's auto-complete feature is trying to guess the address. Some weird behavior can occur if the Outlook nickname cache file is corrupt. If that sounds potentially like your issue you can find the fix here:

good luck
