I can't get my computer to load windows. When I start it, I get the welcome to windows screen, the desktop tries to load then I get this message: Spool 32 has caused an error in MMSYSTEM.DLL Spool will now close, If you continue to experience this problem try restarting your computer.
I lost my mouse and my printer also.
Could this be a virus? My Norton did not detect anything.
How can I remove it if it is a virus? I looked on the norton site for a removal tool, but don't know what I am looking for.
The computer is an HP running Mullennium.

Thanks

Howdy:

Spool32 is the print job spooler. You have a corrupted print job or a crosslinked file. Run scandisk to check for crosslinks.
To reset the spool, click start/settings/printers and right click the printer icon and choose properties.
Choose the details tab (most printers), spool setting button and choose print directly to printer.
Reboot and set the spool setting back.
If problems continue, you may need to reinstall your printer driver.
