Everytime my screensaver runs and I start to reactivate the computer - I receive a virus warning from AVG Grisoft - that a virus has been found at "C:Systems Information/"

But I cannot find that folder in my c: drive.

Also when I run AVG Grisoft or Symantics to do a complete check on the hard drive - it comes up clean.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It may be your System Restore folder that is a hidden and system folder. You will have to turn on the option in Folder Options /View to make them visable to you. You may also have to have the correct permissions to access these folders.

Your virus scanners may miss these suspect files if they are not set for "All Files" or have excluded the System Restore folder. Your On Access scanner and On Demand scanner seem to have different settings.

Aaaaaahhhh;

Want you want do is;
> go into the Control Panel and open the System applet.
> look for the System Restore tab and open it.
> tick the Disable System Restore and choose Yes to disable it.
> run your virus scanner again.

It should now fix it etc.
If you are interested in "restoring" your system etc you can enabled the feature again...I don't bother with it as I enjoy fixing my own fuckups.

Hope it helped.

Cheers

One more place to check is your recycle bin,Norton has a
protected recycle bin,purge all files in the bin ,yours
and protected

For some reason Norton quarantines the file or virus then protects it

To turn this off, right click,recycle bin/properties/ check standard recycle bin.

I don't know about Grisoft. but in my experience it is
better to run only one antivirus program with Norton.

Good luck Dave
