Does anyone know why when my anti-virus detects a bug it can't just delete it and has to put in into the "vault" until you decide to uninstall the anti.v? then it asks you if you want to del the infected items? I know this is a general q but it all seems a mystery to me...

You might want to analise the file (if you know what you are doing), or it might be a system file that has been hijacked, in which case just deleting it stright away might be a bad idea.

Time for a new sig a bit of DNA I think will scan books and get back to you.

OK That's true but when Norton detects something it says "Do you want to repair item?" > Yes > "Can't repair item. Do you wan't to delete item? > Yes > Can't delete item. Do you want to quarantine item? > Yes > "Quarantine successful!

simply because the virus is currently loaded in memory and/or maybe some other process is currently using that file. and you can't delete a file that is currently loaded in memory or being used unless you manually unload it first. it basically has a "shield" mechanism of it's own against antivrus, oftentimes successfully disabling your antivirus or cloaking itself with legit file contents and thus, evading your av software. if you removed/uninstalled your av, the virus have won. you'll then need to proceed to the faq section for further cleaning details.

hope this helps. peace! [peace]
