virus simulation tool ?? 2

hi everbody, does anybody know where i can find a virus development tool or simulation tool, that's because i am testing a virus software that my company will adquiry, only if i aprove it, so, i need to test it, and obviusly i need some viruses for that

There are web pages put up by hackers where you can download actual viruses if you wanted. :) I've seen them.

You could try AV-Test:

But viruses come in many different "shapes and sizes" so I don't think any "test virus" will do you alot of good. The real test obviously is whether your av program will detect actual viruses. If it's a well known one and you keep the virus definitions updated then i'm sure it will. Keeping the definitions updated is the most important thing. An av program not updated is all but useless.
 
I agree with Svensson, Eicar is made just for that purpose.

The problem with this approach is that it only insures the detection of one virus.

I have a test machine with more than a hundred indentifiable virii stored in various forms. I have evaluated many AV products on the machine. Please note that some products found more viruses than others... but no single product found all of them.

There seems to be a trend in modern AV packages to ignore the "extinct" species. Bad plan, if you ask me....
