Virus Scan V7.0 wants windows\installer\data.cab file

On Win98SE generic computer, trying to install McAfee Virus Scan Version 7.0 but program stalls with error message saying could not find windows\installer\data.cab file. Sure enough it's not there.

Have tried copying CD onto HD and running setup from there but same error. McAfee tech support suggested limiting MaxMem on msconfig>advanced screen which was not sucessfull either.

Previous version 5 worked fine but is now totally uninstalled (after many, many manual registry deletions).

Any suggestions?

Is this the Home(Retail) version or the Enterprise edition which just came out? If its the Enterprise edition, it's NOT compatible with Win9x. It's stated clearly in the README.TXT file.

This is the brand new retail Home version.

FYI, McAfee Virus Scan V 7.0, in its disk analysis, discovered Zone Alarm and recommended its removal. Apparently there is a firewall built into the version 7 McAfee. Zone Alarm was removed. I thought I should mention it.
