I'm currently using popfile as a proxyserver for fighting spam on our network. Now I wonder if there is a similar proxy server for viruschecking. It needs to be server/proxy based and must not be using a mailserver like postfix or sendmail. We are using our ISP:s mailserver.

I don't like your scenario honestly.
I would always run a network local MTA, even if
only as a dumb client MTA, to filter incoming
mail, simply because of the wide variety of
protection you can incorporate, rather than a
piecemeal approach.

I'd suggest spamassassin in it's native, local role,
for your scenario, but have always used it in conjunction
with amavisd, so I can't be much more help with it.

It's not an option just now to run a local mailserver (even if several postfix run locally on our server). Our network consists of Window$ workstations. But I found a plugin for IPCop that I will try out later.
