Virus or spyware randomly change current page

Hi,

I am trying to fix a computer with a virus or spyware that does the following things

1. Starts the default browser (firefox) periodically with some ramdom publicity about almost anything

2. Change the current page while I browse.

I tried antivir and MS Windows defender without succes. I really don't feel like formatting. Anything else I could do?

Download and run CWShredder, sounds like a browser hijacker.

Go online and run Trend Micro online virus scanner, seems to spot most virus problems and will also scan for adware and spyware.

I think you will be able to fix your problem without formatting.

I would look at the Hijack This, but there are some good tools that will probably fix your issue:

Update the defs and do a sweep.

Also check this out:

Ewido download:

Update it and run a complete scan.


I would also check it with some other virus scanners just to make sure.
