Virus/Malware lists

I am looking for a list of known virus/malware names and associated files. Something that lists the name of the virus and the file or file the virus puts on your hard drive and where it puts them. A plain text file would do.

I've just spent the last hour or so googling and looking at specific web sites - such as McAfee and Norton with no luck. You can only find out what I want to know one virus at a time.

Can anyone post a link to such a recourse?

Or is a trade secret known only to anti virus software writers?

Or perhaps it would simply be too big?

Thanks for your efforts guys, but its not really what I'm looking for. I'm toying with the idea of writing a vb script to scan for and delete known virus's off a system. Something that could be run to clean up a machine too badly infected to boot by booting off a CD with the script. So as a starting point I was hoping to find something in this kind of format that listed the name and the executables and any other associated files.

aviris c:\windows\system32\avirus.dll
bvirus c:\programs\bvirus\bad.exe

etc etc

The script would then not delete the files, but not ones found in a log file and "crater" any "bad" files it found. It would do this by changing the acl to deny all access to the file. I know this would only work for NTFS based file systems.
