Not sure if this is the right forum, let me know if it's not.

Has anyone purchased AVG Network for their enviroment? If so, how does it compare? The free version seems to work pretty well.

What arrangments do some of you use for your networks? (spam, virus, email, popup's) Is there an all in one? Which software's complement each other the best?

I currently have CA Etrust and not very happy with the results and would like to get some new ideas for our network.

Thanks for any input you can provide!!

I work in a public school system where we use AVG 7 Network version. To be honest, I don't know what the question is, but in my opinion AVG is not the answer.

The clients are constantly losing contact with the network management application, they have been of late slow to update their virus definition files, and the software does not play well with some of the educational software we run on our machines. Also, the developers are in, I believe, the Czech Republic and are very hard to get hold of.

Some of the other school systems in our region seem to like it. My recommendation is that if you are in the U.S. and are thinking of going with AVG, buy it through AVG's U.S. distributor, Walling Data Systems (
Our license expires soon, and we have been evaluating other software. The front-runner for our testing has been Sophos.

We've also had good luck with Sophos AV for workstations, server, and email. So far we've not had a virus get in but we also have rules blocking certain types of connections and files at the firewall.

I used Inoculan/InoculateIT in another enterprise and had fairly good results. I've had numerous problems and infections with Norton and Symantec enterprise AV offerings.

We have been very happy with the last couple of versions of Symantec Enterprise AV. It has worked very well for us. Virus definitions spread quickly through our network. We have it checking for new updates every hour.

We have success with McAfee in the corporate world. I also use McAfee at home and have not had a virus in a long time.

Spyware, however, is a different story.....
