I'm running name based hosts and I would like to hide the reverse resolution (one of the domains on the machine comes up) when a traceroute is made on the IP.
If this is not possible I would like to be able to specify the host/domain which will be resolved.
Take out all but what you really want to show as domain wise in your reverse dns files. Virtual hosting doesn't really need domains in reverse dns only domain to iP mapping. Where as, I think you have both domain to IP and IP to domain (reverse)
in your DNS for virtual hosts your hosting. At least I never put virtual hosts in my reverse DNS and only my primary "hostname" therefore shows up.
Also I don't think you have to list virtual domains in your /etc/hosts file only the primary domain you have as "hostname" on the box that you have to show. Meaning
these are virtual hosts used for web hosting.
