Hi all, I run a local ISP and my company has been approached by the local Country Club to do a Virtual Tour of their golf course, pools, grounds, etc. I've talked it over with them and what we would like to do is have the simple panaromic virtual tours (with just still shots) on their web site, but would also like to create a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM that would show greater detail probably by using an actual video camera.

We do web design here but none of us have any idea on how to do this. I tried to weed through a Google search, but it's proving to be a hassle. Can anyone point me in the right direction about what kind of software to use or where I can go to find out how to do this sort of thing?

one way - I know, not everyone likes it - would be to use Flash . . . That way you simply publish an executable that stands-alone (projector)and flash could even allow you to import video to make beefer tour . . .

We use 3D Vista ( ) to do virtual tours using stills and Adobe Premiere and After Effects for the cd\dvd movie presentations.
It's a expensive and time consuming business starting from scratch with Premiere (a decent DV camera will set you back several grand) and it may well be more cost effective (in time and £££\$$$) to find someone who is already in the market place to do this for you.
3D Vista on the other hand only takes a short time before you are seeing good results.

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?

Does Quicktime Pro allow you to do the simple panoramic view? It seems most of the Virtual Tour sites use a Quicktime plug-in as the viewer.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those that understand binary and those that do not.

A good way is to use Quicktime VR. That allows you to create 360° panoramic views. The file you get is a sort of quicktime movie. In this movie you can make 'hotspots' that are clickable. E.g. you can make a hotspot on an door and link this hotspot on a quicktime VR movie from the room nextdoor.

I hope this helps,
Steven
