I have VTL (virtual tape library) emulating 2 ADIC LTO3 libraries. All the jobs have been running great, however, i notice alittle issue lately that some tapes have been being marked as deprecated or bad. This puzzles me as the tapes do not physically exist because they are actually disk.

Does anyone else see this happening with their VTL's.

How do i mark the tapes as scratch again or do i need to delete them and re-add them. Any help would be great.

Thanks

You will have to delete and rediscover them. This way the counters on the media are reset. After that increase the thersholds of the media in CV (Control Panel>Hardware Maintenanace).

What is the reason given in the media properties for marking the media bad?

That works great. I assumed that would be the only way, but it was good to confirm it. Tommorrow i will catch the error when the job runs and post it up on this thread.

Thanks again for the help
