Virtual Printers

Hey Folks, I am haveing problems on an AIX Box with adding a virtual printer to the system. When I go into smit mkvirprt or smit printer & try & add a printer it will go to processing & nver get into the dscreen for me to proceed.
AIX 4.3.3 There are alot of Spooled printers currantly setup on the system. I can remove printers but I am unable to add them in for some reason. qconfig does not appear to have any garbage in it. I am thinking permissions or something maybe in /dev however nothing is jumping out like its the problem. Does anyone have someplace for me to start or something to take a look at? I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Hi,
do you need really use Virtual Printer or you
can leave the system use them if it needs?

I used virtual printer in V3 (it was a must).
In last 5 years I have configured a printer/week,
but never have used virt-print.

Which kind of printer/queue do you need ?

We user several of the virtual printer options ie _d, _Z, _w We typically setup virtual printers when we use Jet direct printing to allow control of our softwares print jobs. As I said this systems over a hundred printers on it of all sorts actuall remote print ques jet directs & serial connected printers. A bit of a variety. What I find odd is it never errors out. I have it running now. Its been running for about 25 minutes still no error just says processing still .. I want to see if it will error out or give any information if I leave it site for a while for the heck of it!
