Hi all,

If i want to use virtual PC as a means to setting up a virtual lab what do i need? As i understand it i not only need the virtual PC software but also a separate copy of each OS i want to install. Is this true? I had heard mention of using evaluation software to get around this?

Also, whats the difference beween virtual pc and virtual server...some people in other groups seem to be arguing over which is best.

Thanks in advance

Correct you need the client OS which will run on the virtual machine.

Virtual PC is software that runs when you launch it on your workstation.

Virtual server is an OS that keeps the virtual machines running at all times.

For a virtual lab on your machine Virtual PC is your best bet. For a production VM solution Virtual Server would be the option.
