Ive recently installed quark 5 on my power mac g3 and instructions say to turn off virtual memory. When I turn Virtual Memory on again and start Quark, error messages come up for Quark extensions
Can anyone help?

Also having trouble running Quark and Photoshop 5.5 at same time, not enough memory comes up, any ideas?

Finder and Quark unexpetidly quit sometimes also.

How much physical RAM do you have?
What OS version are you using?
How much RAM do you allocate to Quark and Photoshop?
Are the XTensions intended for Quark 5 or 4?

An overload of fonts seemed to be the problem. I'm using ATM Deluxe to manage fonts. By the way I'm using OS 8.6 and I think about 4G of Ram.
Thanks jimoblak anyway, by the way does anyone have problems with fonts, I seem to have quite a few problems with them.

A general Rule of thumb

Don't set your VIrtual memory to more than 1/2 of your real memory. Your Machine will end up Swapping itself to death.

example: 64mb RAM set VM to 128MB

Applications will run a lighter load if VM is ON. you could even get away with setting VM to 65mb ( which is default mac os).

It all depends on how FAT your Apps are and How many do you Really Need Open at once.

--get OSX and be done with it.
