I have an access 2000 DB front end with Oracle back end. Recently upgraded from 8i to 9i client which requires more memory (32k to 128k). User has been getting virtual memory errors after using app for a few hours. Upgraded to 512k and the problem is still occuring, so now at 256k with increased virtual memory. The task manager does not show what is using all the memory. There was no problem with 8i client. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Debbie

Do you mean Megabytes or Kilobytes? I don't think it uses 128 Mb (8M is completely enough). So your errors are not due to the lack of memory. Check for known compatibility issues on Metalink or Technet

The Oracle9i client requires a minimum of 128mb of RAM (although 256mb is recommended) whereas 8i requires a minimum of 32mb RAM. This access application had no memory issues with 8i.

Where did you find this info? It's a SERVER requirement. As for client software - this limit is provided due to OUI written on Java. Once installed client software it may be used with far less memory.
