Guys,

What happen if one customer doesn't renew SWA for their Virtual MBG? Will it block and stop working?

I have the idea of having read somewhere that Mitel virtual applications stop working if SWA not active, I may be wrong...

No, i think you are correct. I seem to remember reading the same thing. Physical expiry is ok but virtual products would cease to work (after some sort of period)

The primary difference between SWA on Physical Machines and Virtual Machines is the ability to rebuild the software in the event of failure.

With a physical machine, you can relicense the product at the same SW version to a different MAC address

With a Virtual Machine, you cannot relicence unless the SWA is current.

This is to prevent cloning of the VM

Yes any v appliance from Mitel whether it is vMCD, vMAS of vNupoint with cease to function if your SWA is allowed to expire. I also believe there is a requirement to keep it upgraded as well. Think this is tied to SWA as well in that if the load you are running falls off the Mitel support map then SWA can't be renewed.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

LoopyLou - I disagree on the cease to function (At least with respect to vMCD, and I highly doubt vMAS)

The ONLY products I have seen that cease to function with expiry are:
- The VPN software provided via Teleworker (6040?)
- The advanced UM for SX-200 (IMAP)

I recently had a customer that was in this situation. Their SWA expired on their vMCD. The system continued to function without issues up to the point that the Virtual Host died. They were able to rebuild the Host and blades in short order but the vMCD would not grab its licensing. This is where I learned that the SWA needed to be current for virtual machines.

kwbMitel you might be right I was going on what I was told and on the fact things change. Thanks for the update.
