Hello

I have been using SLE 9 for several years now and I just reacently decided to upgrade to SLE10, the problem is in HA you need to use a virtual IP address on both machines - in SLE9 you assign the VIP using the network card configuration - this is no longer in SLE10. I believe you use the alias now but I am not sure am I right or do you assign a virtual IP to a NIC another way.

Thank you

bob

Usually your HA/cluster software manages the virtual IP address for you; what software are you using for that?

Annihilannic.

Standard SLE10 HA - built into the system

Good Day

Well I ran out of time and decided to go with my first descion and in my test environment it works quite well in otherwords the VIP is assigned using the alias.

Hey

Just to keep who ever is following this string the alias assigned a virtual IP crashed like the stock market.

As soon as I put it under a strain of use it slowed down to a crawl, with some logins taken up to 3 minutes while others got locked out.

anyway back to SLE9
