Hi: I'm runng Linux Mandrake 9.1 - Apache 1.3 - using virtual hosting - Had doc root set to install dft "/var/ in http config and in virt host table set doc root to point to dir under the above doc root to point to web page. It worked fine. I then changed the virt host table to point to a different doc root "/usr1/newdir". When I re-start and try to access - I get a "You don't have permission to access / on this server." I have checked my permissions on the "usr1" dir and it appears ok - Any help would be appreciated. tia - tbullard

Are you sure user 'apache' has read permission in this directory? Have you changed the user apache is running under?

Apache is still running under the same user - Permissions are set so that on /usr1 and on /newdir user, group and others all have show, write and enter access permissions - I did find in the access log the following
client denied by server configuration: /usr1/newdir

My http config was set as doc root with /var/ - I tried changing that to match my vhost table but to no avail. tia - tbullard
