virtual environment

I want a save environment for surfing the internet.
somthing like a virtual operating system with explorer on it.
This way virusses have now chance of spreading.
can this be done with linux within windows?
Or with some other program.

If you want to do something like that, use a Linux Live CD. These will run entirely from CD (some distros store user settings on a USB drive if available). I suggest Knoppix or MandrakeMove. But if you're feeling adventurous, try all of the distro's listed as 'desktop' here.

I would like to use linux but I need drivers for my thomson speedtouch ADSL modem. Where can i find a liveCD which has the option to select this modem.

I don't know that particular piece of hardware, but a quick check at

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/hardware.php3

shows that an Alcatel Speed Touch USB ADSL Modem is supported, so it might be worth a shot to try it.
