virtual desktop software

I'm wondering if anyone has good experience with a basic virtual desktop switching application that's stable and has not been a pain to use. I just need something that will let me have some windows on one desktop, and more windows on another, and be able to hotkey each desktop easily. There's no need to have different icon sets or wallpaper. I see plenty of individual software online, but haven't found any review article that covers several of them at once, so I guess I'll go for an experienced opinion on Tek-Tips.
