Hello,
We are to trying to configure eUpdate for all of the Macs in our network. We want to the DAT file at one central location and have Macs run eUpdate at a scheduled time. According to the release notes below, there should be a copy of the DAT with extension *.UPD and that's the one we should use. We have looked but it's only available in *.HQX format. Are we supposed to convert it, somehow, to *.UPD? Please help. Thank you.
Release Notes for McAfee Virex Version 6 Virus Update
for February 1, 2003:
"Network Associates distributes Virus Update files
as StuffIt archives. These come in two forms:
a BinHexed VX030201.HQX file, and as VX030201.UPD,
a straight archive file suitable for use with the
eUpdate feature in Virex anti-virus software v6.0
and v6.1."
...
"With this method, you use a web browser or FTP
client software to download the VX030201.UPD file
directly from the Network Associates FTP site. You
then post the file to a central server on your
network and configure all of your client computers
to download the VX030201.UPD file from that central
server via FTP or AppleTalk, depending on your
preference or your network configuration."
