Hi *,

we have a DS4000 storage and an p5 Server with some LPARs.
The LPARs have virtual disks exported from the storage by SCSI LUN via VIOS server.

But now we must create a new logical drive on the DS4000 (should be no problem) map them to a free LUN and - and thats the problem - import this drive in a LPAR.

The LPAR has a virtual scsi adapter and a virtual disk. So i think i dont need to create a new virtual adapter.

But what must i do to get the new logical drive inside the lpar?

Thanks!

In the DS4000 you need to map the lun to the VIO Server.
Next in VIO Server detect this new lun:
cfgdev --> you should now see a new hdiskXX

Now in VIO Server map this hdisk to the LPAR. You need to know which vhost you need to use.
mkvdev -vdev hdiskXX -vadapter vhostX -dev <name_you_want>
To see the vhosts you can do "lsmap -all", it will show you the vhosts and previously created mappings.

Once you've done this in the LPAR you need to detect the new mapped hdisk: cfgmgr --> you should see a new hdisk

HTH
