Anyone know if you can rename a vhost on a HMC, we seem to have a mis-match and rather than delete the virtual scsi details I wondered if they could just be re-named. E.g. vhost4 to vhost100?

Hi,

No you can't rename a vhost, you have to create a new one... so that means impact if it is already used.

Cheers
Al.

I suspected that was the case. Thanks for your answer

Not without messing around in ODM, which I strongly discourage...

Thanks, but I upgraded to P5 a while ago...
...and downgraded since this week to a mere mortal as PHV (again) has the cup in his hands.

[ot]Planning to go to IBM System p, AIX and Linux Technical Conference early November.

And there are some 1200 google hits for "AIX version 6.0" or "AIX version 6.1". But I haven't read all of 'em ;-).[/ot]

lol

Can any one suggest a justification for me to go there other than updating my knowledge and learning about the new P6 machines?

Coz we just bought two P5 570s and i'm trying to find away to convince my boss that i need those for future upgrades or so :p

Khalid

[ot]On those events it is always a good opportunity to "network" with your peers to "Compare notes" - find out if you are running "your" servers the same way as other customers.

The speakers are the people that actually develop the stuff, sometimes right out of the labs and put straight in front of the attendees. OK, some of the speakers' English wont be that good, but in front of an international audience that is usually forgiven.

There's a possibility to take certification exams on the spot, usually at a discounted price.

There are lab sessions (hands on training) also.

And you get a memory stick with the presentations and other freebies ;-)[/ot]

[ot] This is a very nice justification :)

There is the red light district as well :p ha ha ha

I've gone to the last two in Las Vegas. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn what is new to AIX (and the system p world) and it gives you an opportunity to ask the real experts questions. I imagine they have an agenda of classes posted, you should look at that. I go to see what I'm missing... if that makes sense
