I'm trying to set the timezone on my VIO servers using the "chdate -timezone GMT0BST,M3.5.0,M10.5.0". When I echo $TZ I then get "GMT0BST,M3.5.0,M10.5padmin" I know it could be easily fixed by editing the /etc/environment file but I shouldn't have to do that! Anyone else seen and got round this problem?

I've come across it, and fixed it like you said, by entering oem_setup_env and editing /etc/environment...

I haven't reported this error (yet) to IBM.

What ioslevel are you on?

HTH,

Thought so, same here...

Guess we need to outsmart the IBM software labs some of the time huh?

I logged a call with IBM. They told me to either set the MAXTZLEN variable to 256 before setting the timezone, or use the chtz command. Setting the variable didn't work....
