I have purchased the Viking Door Controller device and connected it to the an available Trunk Port (#809). This device has a built-in Talk Battery so all is good there. I assigned the Line #809 to an MLX phone extension on the system. Everything works great as long as I don't allow the phone to ring more than 3 times. I would like the phone to ring on the line button of the assigned phone at least ten times, which then the Viking device just hangs up. This extension phone #211 is a member of the coverage group that goes to voicemail. How do I make this line ring on that <MLX extension #211 without going to voicemail (group 770)or to the night ring extension (group 771)? I'm reasonably versed in SPM and WinSPM but I just don't understand how to assign a Adjunct to the trunk line or how to put the trunk in a pool or group... I'm so confused?!
I can say for certain, this trunk port is not a member of the group 770 or pool 70.

That line shouldn't cover to voicemal for that user unless you assigned it as a principal user for that phone. If you did assign that line to that extension as principal user then remove that. You just need to assign the line to the extension and it should ring forever.

If it is covering somewhere else (not the users mailbox) then you need to figure out where it is covering. it is possible that line is assigned to night service. If so, remove it from the night service group.

If it is going to 771, make sure the line is not assigned to group 771 under hunt groups.

That's exactly what I was thinking... I assigned it to the extension as a "personal Line", at least that's what Merlin calls it. Is that incorrect?
I do not see it covered under any other group, which the only other group I see is 771 and it contains the two extensions for the night bell. BTW, we do also have a four port voice mail installed two with auto attendant seperating day and night functions. The facility is in operation 24/7.

Please advise, and thank you.

It shouldn't be assigned as a personal line (Legend calls it principal user). You should just assign the line to the phone under line assignment. That will put the line on the phone, but not have it associated with the extension itself so it won't cover to voicemail.

If that is what you did and the line is still covering somewhere, it must be assigned somewhere else. If you can determine where it is covering then we can assist with how to get it to stop covering there.

A line without a principal user will cover to the mailbox of the lowest logical ID that has the line assigned to it and has voicemail coverage. Learned that the hard way. Pick an adjunct, label it something descriptive so you won't forget about years from now, assign the line to it, and make that adjunct the principal user. Now the line will ring forever, at least until the it is answered or the Viking times out.

Okay guys, I printed out the complete system information to a text file, which took about 3 hours. I searched for that line number and see that it is assigned to the operator console at extension 200 (MLX-20L) as well as extension 267 and 211. The last being the intended user. I don't know how to assign a 'principle user' to this trunk line. I can tell you that when it rings past the VM limit, the VM for Ext.211 is the one that picks up. And there is still the problem with the night bell ringing just before the VM picks up. There is an Adjunct, #311, that is associated with extension 211 (MLX-16). Should I use that as the Principle user and can you point me in the direction through the SPM menu to attain that goal?
In case you're wondering, the Operator Extension 200 has a coverage button and the status is OFF.

The adjunct for 211 is a good choice, but it could be any of them.

In WinSPM, go to extensions, lines and trunks, then the extension number of the adjunct associated with 211, press entry mode, dial the line number and press enter. Back out of that to the top menu, go to lines, go to Principal User, put in the line number and the adjunct extension number.

Night Bell? What is it connected to? The telephone line before it enters into the Legend control unit, or a single line extension port from the Legend?

I have discovered that I didn't download the actual System Programming manual for the 7.0 Legend. Once I did that, I searched for Principle User and then followed the instruction to assign Adjunct 311 to Trunk 809 (same as you outlined above). Presto! Works just like you said it would Tommy! I had seen that mentioned in one of your other posts but I just couldn't find anything concerning Principle User in the manual, so I may have been overly cautious on how to perform the task.
I'm grateful for your knowledge and willingness to share it without a ransom!!
