Before I even had my morning coffee (come to think of it, I don't drink coffee), imagine my disgust when I found a bright window squatting squarely on my screen, proclaiming Viewpoint -- a company that supposedly trades on NASDAQ -- has updated my computer!

I've never heard of this company or software before.

Is this some sort of spyware? Whatever it is, I definitely would not want to submit my computer to their crappy software and practices.

How do I expunge this menace from my computer?

Hi Dimandja --

Is this some sort of spyware?
Depends on how you classify it; viewpoint is often used as an update component. You can find more information and removal instructions here.

If these fail I'd suggest running through faq760-4866.

Good faq. I always use which is spybot s&d listed in the faq. It's free, although they do ask for donations. I clicked on the link above and it gave me my ip address behind my firewall, so I'll be running spybot tonight. Good luck.
