Hi All,

would anyone know how to get all the keys from the registry and display them in a Treeview

many thanks

Alex T

Yes, somebody would. However, monkeying with the registry is dangerous. If you can't figure out how to do this yourself, or at least get a start at it, you're probably not ready to handle the code.

Besides, even if you're more sophisticated than it sounds, posting such code here would make it available to all kinds of newbies. Giving them access to the registry, without their having knowledge of what NOT to do with it, would be as irresponsible as giving matches to a child. Rick Sprague

Hi RickSpr,

thanks for the response, fair points
when it comes to the reg i believe i know the dangers and i have killed my fare share of pc's(but recovered them as well). when it comes to vb i am a hobiest.
I have made a tool that:
1) allowes me to save reg tips and tricks
2) applys the reg tips and tricks directly to reg
3) lets me create reg files for the tips and tricks for the different win os's
4) gives me to chance to remove all tips and tricks
few other small things, but basicly it's my memory

now i need to be able to view the reg in a treeview to be able to make sure that the info that is being saved and applied is the correct info

if you do have any info, could you possible send it to my email address

regards

Alex T

Ok, I'd say you've qualified for the help. But since you already know how to access the registry, why not put it in terms of copying a directory structure into a treeview control, instead? That way we can keep from publishing the dangerous stuff so openly.

I really would help you, but I know very little about the treeview myself. I jumped in to ward off the kind souls with good intentions, who might have published the registry access code without thinking. That's why I'm suggesting you might want to re-post your request, using directory structure instead of registry. (Now that there are 3 responses in this thread, many of the people who have real answers for you will assume it's being handled, and won't read it.) Rick Sprague
