Is there a way to view the call log of a certain extension for a certain time period, using the HiPath command?

No not directly.
However if you have Call Detail Recording (CDR) setup and if it has not been output to any device then there is a buffer stored on the hard disk.
If you have CDR setup then you can check that if it has already output or you could check with your carrier as they may also provide CDR

can the CDR record even internal calls? we do have CDR setup and it has outputted to a local billing system. but the billing system only shows external calls. Is there a way to get the local file that records all calls, even the internal?

Yes you can do a lot with the CDR on a Hipath but you have to set it up first.
You can't just hope to find past records when the correct recording is not setup beforehand.

You could even have calls coming out to a printer during/after calls if preferred.

Most sites use an external CDR Software analysis package which includes a reporting package for to provide detailed break down of dates/times etc.

You can turn on internal call charging.

Normally each call outputs a line of text on the LAN or Serial depending on age of the system.
If it is not stored somehow it will be lost.

A buffer is available on the hard disk but that eventually gets overwritten if the calls are not stored externally.
