Hi,

I've been looking all around the net for some software to let me see what a user on another solaris (version 8)machine is doing. I have tried using VNC (in various flavours, the closest to working was x0rfbserver). I'm not really interested in taking control so I was hoping that I could use something simple along the line of exporting the display. I know I can export the display by simply setting the local environment variable (after using xhost/xauth) but I can't have it exported to 2 screens at the same time. I read about a newer version of vnc called xf4vnc which promises existing display access but from what I can make out this is only for the linux versions and not for the sparc-solaris.

Any hints/pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Does it have to be their X desktop? You should check out tight-vnc. I've used that before. You can configure the client to basically do a read only session.

If you just want to share a term, use kibitz or screen (-x).
