Hi

I am trying to access Netware resources on a tree on a different subnet.

I can ping the main Netware 6 IP server ok and the Zenworks server but cannot find the tree when I search for it.

I have added the IP's to DNS WINS and the Hosts file with no success.

I ultimately would like to run Zenworks from this site in order to control the remote site.

I already do something similar with PC Anywhere for remote nt4 SERVERS where I only have to give the IP address.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Windows 2000 workstation software running IP.

Have you setup the SLP Scope and DA information in the client on your workstation?

No I haven't though I've read a bit about it. Not sure how to go about it.

To follow up my point I have Netware 4.11 running IPX on my LAN but on the other side of the WAN, the LAN (THE ONE I CAN PING BUT NOT VIEW THE TREE) runs Netware 5 with just IP.

Could this be a problem and if so is there a way to run IP on the Netware 4 server to allow them to talk

Thanks in anticipation

yes your netware servers can run both IP and IPX with out a problem. I can't remember the exact commands for setting it up in NW4.x (been awhile) I think it is still load inetcfg, but not 100% positive on that.

But you might want to try setting up SLP on the Nw5 box. Check out TID10014396 on Novell's Support site. Has links to other documents on setting it up on the server and client as well as some other background info on SLP.

Don't forget, NetWare 4.11 will not communicate over IP in the same way NetWare 5.x does. The only reason to enable IP on a NetWare 4.11 box is usually for printing requirements. -----------------------------------------------------
