I have two laptops that both are running Win 10 and have wondered why I get an Edge browser for one computer when I open a pdf file, but I get a traditional format on the other.

The computer that gives me and Edge pdf is an Acer i3 laptop and the one that creates a traditional pdf is an Asus i7 laptop.

I first started noticing this when receiving my pay checks which come in pdf format on the Acer i3. My Asus runs CS3 and always creates a pdf file traditionally. But this week I dropped CS3 on my Acer i3, made a pdf of an InDesign file, and I was surprised it created it via Edge.

Any comments? Should I be concerned?

Daniel

Are you talking about what application OPENS a pdf when you double click on it once it's been created? It's not clear from your description whether this is about opening or creating.

Both, on the Acer i3.

On the Asus i7, I rarely check my email, so I am not sure how it behaves when opening a pdf.

Assuming both are Windows 10, hit the start button and type Default. Click on Default Programs and at the bottom, click, "Change default apps by file type". Scroll down to .PDF and change it to Adobe or Edge, whichever you prefer. If you do not care what it opens it in, then do nothing and proceed. Edge opening PDF files is the way MS wants it to be so they gave it that functionality by default.
