When someone sends me an e-mail which contains attached files which are .GIF or .JPG images, the message preview pane of Outlook Express will display these images successively as I scroll down past the message body. In Outlook 2000, I do not see the attached pictures in the message prievew pane, and must open each attachment individually.

How can I make Outlook 2000 display mesages in my inbox the same as Outlook Express?

In outlook 2000, emails with attachments will have a paperclip in the upper right hand corner (in the preview pane). You can click on this and a drop down will appear with a list of attached files.

Yes, I know that, but I want the to show up without having to click on the "paper clip" icon.

Are you viewing the email as plain text?? the mail that was sent was in HTMl, as only that will allow for images to be placed in the body of the text. If you are using Exchange Server, there is an option in the email config to allow clients to recieve HTML emails, if this is unticked, the mail will loose its formatting and any pictures on it will come in as an attachment. As far as I can tell it isnt possible.

So why would microsoft make this possible in the "express" version of outlook, but not the full version?
