virt,

not really, you see, i want flash to be, sort of, a browser on its own. able to display html documents from any part of my server or if possible including sites like yahoo. Our marketing guy downloaded a marvel comics application which is a flash executable. he wants me to create something like that which the user can download and view any part of our site. and since we r a portal so we provide access to other sites as well, including yahoo. but we make them view the other sites in a console which we made (view to get what i mean. try to click on down arrow to find the "Search the Web" button, click on it then click yahoo or google).

i thought this was easy to do at first but now i dont think this is possible. is it?

hope u can help me out in this.

p.s.

I wish dave and old are here at times like this!

the only way you can do it is to use frames and call the html in a blank frameset...goto and in the top right corner there are homeowner links...click on one of those..then click on the quick search...see how i have the search called inside the blank html?..

the only way i know how to incorporate html in flash...you got to fake it..

I already did that virt! that's what we did with our site's "enhanced console"! (in , click on the "Enhanced A2Z View" button, lower left) i was wondering if it where possible to make a projector file act like ie in one way. anyways, i guess u r right. i might have to fake it, there's no other way. how about generator? will that help? i mean can it make flash display HTML pages?

you never said a projector file...only thing could be is use the geturl action to call the page...system has to be connected to the internet though for that to work...i mean you can call the file...but i don't think inside the projector...
sorry not much help...

thanks virt.

just as i thought. well, like you said, i have to fake it. im thinking of a way now of how to fake it. but b4 that i think i'll have to check out the visual basic options first. actually what im trying to do is to make a browser which look like our consoles, with everything intact, flash and everything except for the HTML pages. all i need to do is the interface. we have three options for this, java, flash, and lastly VB. i dont want to do it in java coz it loads and runs quite slow and doesnt support flash objects (too bad!). flash was my preference but now i think i have to do it VB if i cant do it in a flash projector. hmmm sound tough.
well, wish me luck. if anyone has more ideas pls, keep me informed!

thanks a lot virt!

I fail to see why you would want Flash to do a browser's job... That is displaying htmls and Flash movies among other things. In that sense, Carl's use of a frameset is the best compromise. But then again, it's not Flash anymore!
