Good afternoon, all

I am a newbie when it comes to Pervasive.SQL (having used Oracle for the past 5 years). Anyways, after installing the software on a Suse Linux Server, I went to the directory where the demo data files are stored. I was able to open the files with vim and read the contents. Is there an encryption feature in Pervasive to stop being able to read the files with a text editor.

Thanks,

You're only going to be able to read string data. Numeric data is stored in it's binary format. If security is a concern, you can use an Owner Name. THere are several levels including an encrypted setting. You can also use Database Security and limit access to the actual data files.
