I am trying to find some info on one of our tapes. I "catalog" the tape, and it completes fine. If I click on the properties of that job in job monitor it will give me a log file that shows what directories it has back up. How do I view the individual files that I am looking for??

Thanks.

I have found two ways to look at what is on the tapes. You can go into media tab, click on the media you want to see and then click on the restore button, If the tape has been cataloged, it will show up all the directories, you can click on the folders until you find what you are looking for. You then can cancel out, and never really do a restore. I also go into activity screen, click on restore. and from the drop down list, we have a bunch of servers, find the one you want, click on it. and it will give you a drop down list of all the times, dates, and tape ids that this was backed up. You open up the folders until you find what you want. example. I try to do a restore on server1, I highlight that server, get the list of when it was backed up. go for the closest full backup to the date of the missing file, then follow the path down to see what is there. again. you really do not have to do a restore, but you can see what is on the tape. This method works for me. I do full backups on wednesday, then differentials.until the next wednesday. (skipping week-ends). works pretty good. hope this helps. blonde
