I would like to access certain files from my webpage to view on the screen and not download them. I have a viewer installed already. As of now, I can physically go to that folder and open the file.

However, if i try to access it from the webpage, it wants me to download it. How can I change that?

Example:
file://server//share//file1.dwg

I have a program that views DWG files loaded on the PC.

Can you clarify - are you wanting to view them in the browser, in which case you'll need a browser plugin, or simply for them to open externally in the app, in which case you should simply configure your browswer to do this?

How to do the latter will depend on your browser and OS, which we don't yet know.

Hope this helps,
Dan

I would probably have to say open them in the app since i dont know about plugins available for the browser.

machines are Win2k or XP and browsers are IE.

As I understand it (which could be wrong), for IE, you go into Explorer (NOT "Inernet Explorer", but the file explorer, such as "My Computer"), click "Tools", "Folder Options", "File Types", and then add a new program set up for the extension of your file (so .dwg).

Failing this, I'd ask in the "Browser Issues" forum (forum608), as it's not really an HTML problem.

Hope this helps,
Dan

ok...will have to go there...sry...

I do have it set up that way through Windows Explorer already. I can open the file with no problem by directly clicking on it from Windows Explorer just not via a link on a web page.
