Hi guys, my website shows links to excel files. When a user clicks on one it opens excel and displays the spreadsheet. My problem is it shows a window saying transferring file (it belongs to excel) and then displays an authentication dialog asking for username and password. You can click on cancel here and then it displays the excel file like it should. This doesn't happen on my pc where it immediately shows the file as it should. I suspect a setting on the webserver. Any thoughts?

sounds like folder security housing the excel files, make sure IUSR_machinename is allowed read access at least on the folder.

Take a look at this thread: thread333-921170

He has an identical question, the answer I gave may prove useful.
