hello !

Here is my problem :
I upgraded an access database (Front End / Back End) from Access 97 to Access 2000 ( I did not created the database).
I then did very few changes to this database.

Now, when I try to preview a report I get the following error message : MSAccess.exe has generated errors and wiil be closed by windows etc...

(sometimes I get the memory could not be "read" error, and sometimes I can open the report).

I did some reading here and elsewhere but did not really understood what the problem - and the solution could be ...

(I tried on someone elses PC, same problems).

Thanks,

Cécile

This seems like a corruption problem. Unless anyone else addresse the challenge, here's a couple of things to try:

- oh - before you try anything, backup, backup, backup

[ul][li]try the /decompile option, see Decompile or how to reduce Microsoft Access MDB/MDE size and decrease start-up times for detailed approach[/li]
[li]create a new database, and import all the objects from this one[/li]
[li]try the jetcomp utility from Microsoft[/li][/ul]

Here's btw a good site on corruption Corrupt Microsoft Access MDBs FAQ

Another thought, there's been some problems with Norton Antivirus and Access. There are some info on it on the Microsoft pages, but if you have Norton, or other antivirus, try turning it of just to test whether this could be the cause, then find relevant upgrades to fix it.

Thank you Roy-Vidar , I tried all your suggestions and read the site you adviced.
Unfortunatly nothing worked.
I tried to create an mde file, but same problem again.
(I was able to create the mde file, but still problems with reports).
I think I will recreate the reports from scratch ...
I believe that something went wrong during the upgrade from access97 to 2000 ...

If someone else has an idea, I really need it !!!

OK, I re-created all my reports, which wasn't fun at all, but at least it seems to be working now ...
