What's the best way to find out the location of all extensions/ports in a Merlin Magix system? What is the typical numbering plan?

We have two cabinets - from left to right:
processor
412 tdl
800 iclid
800 iclid
016 t/r
016 t/r
----------
messaging
016 t/r
100 ds1

Use WinSPM to do an Extension Report. Open it in Notepad and remove the header, the footer, and if the print is split in two, remore the center split. Save that and open in Excel, import as Fixed Width. Set your column breaks so that you have the slot, the port, the extension number, and the name. Remember you have 2 extensions per line. When it imports, you have Slot/Port/Ext/Name/Slot/Port/Ext/Name.
Cut and paste the 2nd set under the first, then you can sort by slot and port. I like to add an additional column between port and ext, where I can signify the port type (MLX, TDL, SL, ETR, VMail, etc). Then you can sort by whatever you like.

Where can I download the program? Also where can I find the default credentials? Thanks Tommy!

You could also do it old school from the operator phone: Menu, Maintenance, Port, Station, then enter station number *0101. This will show you what is plugged into slot 1, port 1. If you press Status you then get the option for Next. You could go through pressing next and copying down each extension with its slot/port number as you go. Not very user friendly, but even with the software you will also need a special cable to connect to the magix unless you have a modem in which case you could connect via the modem and pluggin into an analog port on the system (016 tr).

That worked perfect, just used the phone. Thanks! We're used to BCM/IPOs didn't realize you can just navigate through without a password. Is there a way to manually dial a code to ANAC all the COs without programming buttons?

Haven't done that in a long time, but I think pickup is #9 then you would enter the line number (default is 801, 802, etc). Only I am not sure if you can pickup an idle line, it might just be for grabbing a ringing line. Otherwise you would need to put the line appearance on the phone to check it.

As far as accessing the lines, it gets more complicated with the later releases.

Dial *03, the PASSWORD (Using NUMBERS) then the PORT NUMBER (Line 1 would be 01) and now you are accessing line 1 (in this case), then you can dial your ani code.

-OR- You could just go to the equipment cabinet and pull the lines one at a time and ani them that way.

Remember, all things count from the BOTTOM UP, Lines and Stations.
