Hi

Just really interested in peoples views. I have an opt 11 that is bursting at the seams and have been asked the question of making this more resilent. Is the natural path to upgrade to a 51? How could a single switch running PRI and DLC, VSC and a RAN be made more resilient?

Thanks

There are many roots that you could go with this. But they will all take a lot of work.

You could upgrade to survivability of your option 11 cabinets, so that if one cab dies the others keep going, you just loose what is in that cabinet.

You cul maybe go for CS1000E / CS1000T solution giving more resiliance.

Its a case of how much do you want to spend and how much disruption can you afford.

You cannot purchase an Option 51 from Nortel anymore.

Need to describe what you mean by "more resilient". The Option 11 - although a single CPU system - still has a very high MTBF.

go to a 61 or 81.. dual cpus, dual everything.. if an 11 stays up 96 percent of the time, you can but the other 3.9 percent with a redundant switch.. i perfer dual cpus, i can test the standby;s.. i can run on one side or scpu's..

mine have been up a couple of years without a problem, the last ini was during an upgrade.. stateside 88 percent of home tdm service is from a nortel switch.. how often does the switch that provides dialtone city wide drop? pretty good track record.. there's nothing wronge with an 11, but if your growing, 61c or 81c. we have 7000 stations mirans symposium call pilot ivr... i wouldn't want that many apps on an 11 but you can load one down
