Is there a procedure in Word 97 or 2000 to view a file to determine whether to delete? In WordPerfect you could peek into a file to see what was in it before deleting.

jfhewitt,

In the File, Open dialog box, one of the icons is called Preview (it is in the set of four icons: List, Details, Properties, Preview) which will allow you to preview the document is one is available. It is available in all of products of Office 97.

I am not at my Office 2000 machine, but I believe the option is available in the same File, Open dialog box under the View button, where List, Details, Properties, and Preview should be available.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...that helps. Can't quite figure out why some files can't be deleted since "access denied...file may be in use".
