I would like to put Data Bases together with Microsoft Access that other people can view that do not have Access installed on their computer. OR if they do or must have Microsoft Access installed on their computer they will not be able to change anything within the Data Base.
you need the Office developer edition tools which has a wizard for making installation sets with royalty free distribution for Access. This is a seperate purchase from Office and runs almost the same price, but well worth it.

With this you can let anyone use your database with a runtime version of Access even though it is not on their machine.
Hope this helps
1. If you want a stand alone file that will run without Access, then you need the Access Developers Toolkit, available from Microsoft at:
<A HREF=" TARGET="_new">
2. If you just want to make sure nobody can change the database, you can make it into an MDE file (Tool-Database Utilities - Make MDE File...) This is from Access 97 Hep file on MDE's :

"If your database contains Visual Basic code, saving your database as an MDE file compiles all modules, removes all editable source code, and compacts the destination database. Your Visual Basic code will continue to run, but it cannot be viewed or edited, and the size of your database will be reduced due to the removal of the code. Additionally, memory usage is optimized, which will improve performance."

Hope this helps!
Re: royalty-free distribution, the only way you can distribute an entire Access app without installing Access on the user machine is via the Office Developer Edition tools.

Re: "view-only mode", if you mean you want people to only be able to view (vs. change) your *design* - of tables, forms, reports, etc.- you can go the ODE route or the .mde route. A third alternative is to use Access's security features.

If you mean you want people to only be able to view (vs.change) your *data*, that can be accomplished *only* through Access security.

Finally, if you don't want to install Access and just want to show users certain data periodically, you can write reports in Access and distribute them with Access's royalty-free Snapshot Viewer.
