Hi,

Have what may seem a simple query but would save me hours!!!
Is there any way I can view what each of our DTS's does, without actually going into each one and writing down what tables it uses and data it transfers?

PLEASE HELP!!!

If you have used the Description field of the package to type a desription of the package, you can retreive that info from msdb.dbo.sysdtspackages. As for what each step does, I can't think of any way.

If you save the package as a .bas file, you can view the code of each DTS step within Visual Basic. It is sort of cryptic since the code generated is used to recreate the DTS package on the fly.

It is a good way however, to scan for table names, SQL Scripts and ActiveX scripts.
